Hair Bow Making Tutorial with White Lace Flower Center

Girls hair bows and hair accessories are so much fun to make. Yesterday, we shared how to crochet white lace to make a Beautiful Ribbon Bowsbeautiful hair bow flower center. Today, we are providing you with a free step-by-step hair bow making tutorial for creating a cute basic ribbon layered bow.

Hair Bow Making Supplies:

  • 1.5” wide White Grosgrain Ribbon (28” in length)
  • 7/8” wide Purple Grosgrain Ribbon (28” in length)
  • 3/8” wide Light Purple Grosgrain Ribbon (34” in length)
  • Mini Bowdabra
  • Hair Bow Tool & Ruler
  • Bowdabra Bow Wire
  • Hair Bow Hardware

Instructions:

1. Begin by placing the Hair Bow Tool & Ruler onto the Mini Bowdabra. Cut 18” of Bowdabra Bow Wire and fold it in half and place it into the Mini Bowdabra.

2. Next, cut 28” of 1.5” wide white grosgrain ribbon. Fold the ribbon in half to create a crease. At the crease mark press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra.

 

3. Fold and press a loop on each side at the 2” mark.

 

4. Fold and press the ribbon down at the 2” mark, on each side, to complete the first bow.

 

5. Cut 28” of 7/8” wide purple grosgrain ribbon. Fold the ribbon in half to create a crease. At the crease mark press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra.

 

6. Fold and press a loop on each side at the 1.5” mark.

 

7. Again, fold and press a loop on each sided at the 1.5” mark.

 

8. Lastly, fold and press the ribbon down at the 1.5” mark, on each side, to complete your second bow. Scrunch down with the Mini Bowdabra Wand.

 

9. Cut 34” of 3/8” wide light purple grosgrain ribbon. Fold the ribbon in half to create a crease. At the crease mark press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra.

 

10. Use the Mini Bowdabra Bow Wand to hold the ribbon loops in place. Fold a total of 8, 1.5” wide loops.

 

11. Keep the Mini Bowdabra Bow Wand in place while you thread the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire through the loop at the other end.

 

12. Pull the Bowdabra Bow Wire tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.

 

13. Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra. Separate the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire and bring them around to the back of the bow. To tie off the bow, pinch the Bowdabra Bow Wire securely against the bow. Twist the bow 4 to 6 times in a clockwise direction.

 

14. Follow the instructions to make a matching hair bow.

 

15. Use the Bowdabra Bow Wire to attach hair bow hardware.

 

16. Trim away excess wire.

 

17. Hot glue white lace crocheted flowers to the center of the hair bow.

 

18. You hair bow clips are complete.
