Looking for a last minute decoration for Mardi Gras? Make a Mardi Gras mask decoration that can double as party favors for guests. Make just a few or several decorated masks. Place the masks in a Styrofoam holder and showcase them during Mardi Gras celebrations.
Materials Needed:
Instructions:
1. Begin by gathering all the materials you will need for this craft. Most of the materials I found at the Dollar Store.
2. Hot glue garland and beads to dowels. Leave the bottom of the dowel clear of garland so that it can fit into the Styrofoam.
3. Glue feathers onto the side of the masks and place feathers in the center of one of the masks. Glue them onto the dowels.
4. To make the bows for the mask: Cut 18″ of Bowdabra Bow Wire and fold it in half. Place the wire into the Mini Bowdabra.
5. Cut strips of ribbon for ribbon tails. Fold the ribbon in half to create a crease. At the crease mark press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra.
6. To form the loops press the end of the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra.
7. Fold and press the ribbon to form four loops.
8. Cut the ribbon from the spool.
9. Use another ribbon color to make two more loops, cut the ribbon from the spool.
10. Use a final color and make four additional loops and cut the ribbon from the spool.
11. Scrunch down with the Mini Bowdabra Wand.
12. Thread the two loose ends of Bowdab
ra Bow Wire through the loop.
13. Pull the Bowdabra Bow Wire tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.
14. Gently pull the bow out of the Bowdabra. Separate the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire and bring them around to the back of the bow and tie the wire tightly in the center of the bow.
15. Bring the Bowdabra Bow Wire around to the front and spiral it around a paint brush. Fluff the bow. Follow the instructions to make a matching one.
16. Glue the bows onto the sides of the Mardi Gras masks.
17. Place the masks into a Styrofoam base and display for Mardi Gras.
