Designing bows with one-sided ribbon can be difficult but when you have to worry about the direction of the print it can be extra hard. We are using a wire edge ribbon with teddy bear print on one side and white backing on the other. To make the bow we cannot do the normal fold and twist loop method because one side of the bow will look like the bears are standing on their heads. We have provided a tutorial for both single loop and double loop bows.
Materials Needed:
Single Loop Tutorial
1. Begin by cutting 18″ of Bowdabra Bow Wire and fold the wire in half. Place the wire into the Mini Bowdabra.
2. Cut a ribbon strand for the bows tails – dovetail the ends. Place the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra.
3. Cut a strand of ribbon for the bow loops. The size of the ribbon will depend on how big you want the loops. I cut my ribbon 17″ long.
4. Place the end of the ribbon print side down into the Mini Bowdabra.
5. Fold the other end of the ribbon over the Mini Bowdabra and place it into the towers.
6. Press the ribbon down into the Mini Bowdabra to create the two loops.
7. Scrunch down with the Mini Bowdabra Wand. Thread the two Bowdabra Bow Wire ends through the loop.
8. Pull the wire tightly.
9. Remove the bow from the Mini Bowdabra and knot the wire in the back of the bow.
10. Fluff the bow.
Double Loop Tutorial
1. Begin by placing 18″ of Bowdabra Bow Wire into the Mini Bowdabra. Cut ribbon for bow tails. Next, cut an extra long length of ribbon for the double loops – I used 34″ of ribbon. Fold the ribbon in half to create a crease, at the crease mark press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra print side- down.
2. Fold one end of the ribbon over the Mini Bowdabra towers and press into the Mini Bowdabra.
3. Fold the other end of ribbon over the Mini Bowdabra and press it into the towers. It creates an X.
4. Press the bottom ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra to create two loops.
5. Press the top ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra to create two more loops.
6. Scrunch down with the Mini Bowdabra Wand, then thread the Bowdabra Wire ends through the wire loop, and pull the wire tightly.
7. Remove the bow from the Mini Bowdabra and bring the wire around the back and knot. Fluff the bow.
*Optional: Place the Hair Bow Tool & Ruler onto the Mini Bowdabra before you begin to make your bows. The ruler will help to measure your bow loops and make sure they are uniform.
