Super simple patriotic garland

Materials

  • Bowdabra
  • Bowdabra Bow Wire (26″ per puff)
  • Red Mesh Tulle (6″ x 20″ per puff)
  • White Tulle (5″ x 20″ per puff)
  • Red Scrunchie Ribbon (6″ x 20″ per puff)
  • Blue Mesh Tulle (3″ x 20″ per puff)
  • Patriotic Garland Strips (2 pc) (2″ per puff)
  • Patriotic Garland (5′)
  • Scissors

Now we’re going to make a really cute and simple patriotic garland. I’m going to start with my Bowdabra Bow Wire. I fold it in half, and lay it down into my Bowdabra. And I’m just tucking the ends under to make sure they stay secure, since I’m working with mesh.

So, I’m scrunching my mesh in, but as everybody who’s ever worked with mesh knows, it catches on everything. To get around that, I’m just going to fold that over in here. So, now I have my mesh in.

Next, I’m going to take some of our red Bowdabra Scrunchy Ribbon and scrunch that in. And then I’m going to take this beautiful white wired ribbon and I’m going to lay that in and just scrunch it over. It’s really nice. It’s kind of like a wire edged tulle. And I’m just going to kind of scrunch this over my red scrunchy ribbon. And then I’m going to scrunch in the mesh. Sorry, this is a netting though. It’s not really a “mesh” mesh.

I have these little cuts from the star garland and I’m just going to lay those in. Then I’m going to scrunch all of it down together with my wand. I take my ends of my ribbon; pull these two ends through the slipknot. You have to pull it really tight while it’s still in the Bowdabra. I’ll take it out, move my Bowdabra to the side, separate the ends and bring it around to the back and tie a knot.

Finishing your patriotic garland

I have this garland. And to be honest, I could have laid it into the Bowdabra to begin with, but I forgot. So, we’re just going to tie it on at the end, which isn’t a really big deal. It would have saved me one more — well, it would have saved me like a little half a step. So, I’m going to now clip this really close to the Bowdabra Bow Wire.

Finally, I’m going to just fluff out my scrunch ribbon and my white, and I think I’m going to just curl these in a little bit. And through the magic of video, we’ve already got three of them. What’s great about this is you can put it at your Memorial Day party, at your Patriot’s Day party, at your 4th of July party, and you just kind of hang it across wherever you see fit. It could also make a really pretty centerpiece.
