How to Make a Super Fun Patriotic Ribbon Wrap Bottle

With Labor Day just around the corner and the last big celebration of the summer, why not make an adorable Patriotic Ribbon Wrap Bottle that’s perfect as a centerpiece, vase or decorative accent at any cookout, barbeque or get-together! This is a very interesting way to use ribbon to wrap a bottle. I was actually inspired by the popular nautical twine netted bottles. And the best part, it’s not difficult at all, especially using your Mini Bowdabra and Proxxon Hot Wire Cutter.

Begin by gathering the following materials:
• Wine Bottle
• Alcohol
• Assorted red, white and blue ribbon – 3/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 5/8 inch, 1/2 inch
• Hot glue gun/sticks
Mini Bowdabra, Measuring Tool and Wand
Proxxon Hot Wire Cutter or scissors and flame heat to seal ends

Starting with a clean bottle, wipe down outside glass with alcohol to remove any oil residue and let dry. Using your Proxxon hot wire cutter or scissors, cut ten, 22 inch strips of 3/8 inch wide ribbon. Turn bottle upside down and glue ends evenly around on the bottom of the bottle.

Gather two strips of ribbon, criss-crossing about 1 1/2 inch down. Add a dab of glue between where the ribbon crosses. Continue around bottle, criss-crossing ribbon to form the first row of crossed ribbon strips.

Begin second row by criss-crossing the right ribbon strip of one group with the left ribbon of the next group (beside), hot gluing between crossed ribbon.
Continue around on the same row until all ribbon strips are crossed and glued. You should have five crossed ribbons on each row for this size ribbon wrap bottle.

Continue criss-crossing ribbon over the bottle throat . . .

and applying glue between ribbons.

Continue criss-crossing ribbon and gluing between ribbon until . . .

reaching the tip of the bottle opening. Remove any excess hot glue.

To make the stacked bow, cut strips of assorted ribbon in 4 inch & 6 inch lengths using the Proxxon wire cutter or scissors and heat seal ends.

Make the ribbon wrap bottle bow

Next, fold an 18 inch strip of ribbon in half and place into the Mini Bowdabra, tucking ends under.

Begin inserting assorted ribbon strips into the Mini Bowdabra, randomly.

Once satisfied with the bow fullness, scrunch down ribbon using the Mini Bowdabra Wand.

While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, push the two loose ends of the ribbon through the ribbon loop at the other end, pulling the ribbon tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.

Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra, separating the ribbon tie ends around to the back and tying in a knot. Cut off excess ribbon the length of the other strips. Fluff bow strips.

Tie on the bow to top strips of ribbon wrap.

What a cool ribbon wrap bottle decorating technique!
