Bowdabra

The best way to gift-wrap an extra large package

If you have an extra large package and you want to wrap it the holidays you may run into a problem with wrapping paper.  The roll may not be long enough causing you to cut and add pieces everywhere.  Wrapping paper is thin and sometimes it rips. Don’t fret!  You just have to think outside the box. The best way to gift-wrap an extra large package is with an inexpensive vinyl flannel backed tablecloth.  Yes, I did say tablecloth.

You can buy them in a square, oblong and more.  The tablecloth is thicker and doesn’t tear while you are wrapping.  They come in all sorts of prints and solids, and when the gift unwrapped, the tablecloth is an extra gift!  Just think what a great idea this is if you are giving a cookware set or other large kitchen items.  It’s not just for the Holidays either.  Wouldn’t it be great for a wedding shower as well?

Finish your gorgeous gift-wrap with a large Bowdabra bow and you have an elegant present that everyone will love.

Gift-wrap an extra large package

Materials:

Vinyl flannel backed tablecloth 52” x 52” (Square)

Bowdabra bow maker

Bowdabra bow wire

3 ½” yds. 2 ½” wide wired ribbon to match

Large red Jingle bell

Clear packing tape (It holds better than regular tape)

Scissors

Make the bow

  1. First, thread some bow wire through the top of the jingle bell and tie a knot. Set aside.

  1. Next, cut an 18” piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Fold it in half and insert into the Bowdabra.  You will a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other. This will be your slipknot.

  1. Now, insert the end of the wired ribbon into the Bowdabra. Make a loop about 5” wide. Twist and insert into the Bowdabra making a matching loop on the other side.

  1. Then, continue making loops on each side till you have five loops on each side. Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand so that everything is secure in the Bowdabra.

  1. Now, insert the jingle bell with the wire.

  1. Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.

  1. Insert the two loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back and tie a knot.  Knot again for extra security.

  1. Fluff and arrange the bow into a round shape.

Wrap the package

Wrap the package as you would with wrapping paper using the packing tape to secure.

Cut a strip of ribbon long enough to wrap around the package and secure. You won’t want to cut the tablecloth if you want to use it again so you fold over several times and the packaging tape will hold it well.

Next, add the bow on top of the package with some tape folded onto itself to make it double-faced.
