Materials:

Mini Bowdabra

18” Gold Bowdabra Wire

(4) 5/8” x 2.5” Wired Orange Ribbon

(3) 1.5” x 4” Lime Green Glitter Ribbon

(3) 2” x 5” Green Wired Ribbon

Three Gold Beads

37” Gold Beads

So now, we’re going to make this really cute Mardi Gras necklace. I love this necklace because you can use it anytime of the year, not just for Mardi Gras.

I’m going to start with my beads here. And a really easy trick is you just take your strand and you just twist them and twist them again, and it’s not going anywhere. So, there is your necklace. And I’m going to just put this aside.

Next, I’m going to take my Bowdabra Bow Wire. I’m going to fold it in half and then just lay this down into my Mini Bowdabra. I’m going to tuck the ends underneath just so they stay out of the way.

Then, I’m going to take my piece of grosgrain, and I’ve just cut a point. So, basically, to cut the point I’m just going to do like this and cut from the fold, at a diagonal, in towards the towards the wire side. And, I wanted it to be a little jagged because these are going to be leaves. So, we’re going to make a really cute little flower.

Add the leaves

I’m just going to fold that in half and then scrunch this down into my Mini Bowdabra. And I’m going to do the same thing, fold it in half to find the center. I’m just going to do what we call our little mountain-up fold. So, it’s just like a little mountain in the middle. Scrunch that down in here. So, these are our leaves. I’m just going to go in here to the middle and do my mountain-up fold. I just kind of manipulate my leaves a little bit.

Then, I’m going to take these little beads that I have here and just go right down in the middle and lay my beads down in here.

Add the petals

Next, to make the petals, I just cut a little half-circle around here. And that’s how we make the petals for our flower. So, we’ve already cut them all, and all I’m going to do here is just fold it in half to find the center. I make my little mountain up fold and just scrunch that in. Do the same thing with this one. And again, just to show you that little mountain, I’m just doing a little mountain in the middle. You can kind of see, it looks like a mountain. And I’m just going to push that in. And that just helps it for when you’re doing any kind of a hair bow or flower. It helps shape it.

Finally, I’m just going to take my little pieces of orange and lay them down in here. This is just going to sort of be the little center of my flower. And I’m just going to take one more piece, lay that in, take my wand and just scrunch everything down.

Finishing your necklace

Now, I take my Bowdabra Bow Wire, pull it through the slipknot, hold my bow tight while it’s still in the Bowdabr and pull it really tight. I’m going to separate the ends and bring it around to the back. I’m going to tie a knot and make sure that I double-knot it. And then what I’m going to do is take it and just tie it onto my necklace and double-knot it. Clip the ends.

As the final touch, I’m just going to shape it by bringing everything to shape. the reason that I’m using a wired ribbon here is that I can shape my flower really nicely. And I’m going to just kind of pull the leaves out and pull these leaves out here, and just sort of shape my center. I pull these apart. It’s a little easier said than done, but we’re just going to pull all my little centers apart. And just give it one last little shaping here. And you have this adorable little flower necklace that would be great for Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, or really, any other time of the year.
