Do you have a wedding on the horizon and need a simple corsage for that special mom? Or maybe you are thinking about having a get-together or more for Mother’ Day. You will be surprised that you can quickly create this simple, elegant corsage in minutes without any prior experience with floral arrangements.
This elegant corsage is gorgeous pinned to a lapel or side of the dress with corsage pins. Or you can change it up and use a piece of elastic or a slap bracelet to make a wrist corsage. Change up the colors for a prom, or color scheme of the wedding.
And the best part is that when you use quality faux floras and picks this corsage will become a lasting memento.
Bowdabra simply elegant corsage
So let’s get started.
Materials:
- Leaves (I used 3 artificial lambs ear)
- White pearl bead picks
- Beaded picks with tulle
- Fabric rose flower
- 7/8” sheer ribbon
- Floral wire
- White floral tape (You may also use green)
- Wire cutters
- Lighter
- Optional rhinestone for the center of the bow
- Mini Bowdabra with hair bow tool and ruler attachment
- Bowdabra bow wire
Instructions:
First, choose the leaves for your corsage. I wanted a smallish corsage so I used three leaves. Odd numbers are best. Next, cut an 8” piece of floral wire. Use the lighter to heat the tip of one end and push it through the plastic base of the leaves. Bend it to use as its stem. Don’t worry that it is too long. You will be cutting it later.
In order to make a bendable stem. Use wire cutters to cut a 12-inch piece of floral wire. Use a lighter to heat the end of the wire and while it is still hot push it through the plastic of the leaf stem. Bend the wire in half and you will have a longer easy to bend stem.
Next, add several sprigs of the white beaded picks. Using the floral tape wrap around the stem of the leaves slightly to hold in place. (Floral tape sticks to itself)
Then, add about 3 or 4 white pearl bead picks with tulle and use the floral tape wrapping around to attach.
Now, add the fabric rose. Wrap around with floral tap all the way to the end. Then with the wire cutters clip the end to about 2 1/2” and curl it.
Make the bow
First cut a length of Bowdabra bow wire and fold it in half. Lay it in the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other. This will be your slipknot. Cut an 8” piece of ribbon, find the center, and insert into the Bowdabra. (Tails)
Next, insert another piece of the 7/8” inch wide sheer ribbon into the Bowdabra. Make loop to the 1 ½” inch mark. Continue making loops til you have about 6 loops on each side. Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.
To finish, insert the two loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the Bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove the bow, turn to the back and tie a knot. Use the extra wire to tie the bow to the bottom of the corsage.
Either hot glue a pin back to the corsage or pin on with corsage pins.
