Creative bows on gifts for men
To begin:

Take a tour of your junk drawer, garage and recycling bin!  Look for colors and textures!  Here is what I found:

  • Sand Paper
  • Drywall Tape
  • Fiberglass Mesh
  • Drywall Tape
  • Roofing Mesh
  • Plastic Six Pack Holder
  • Newspaper
You will also need to gather your Bowdabra Supplies:

To begin this project, wrap your gift in newspaper.  I am using the Sports Page.  But what is your man about? Tech Page, Business, Comics?  Be thoughtful in choosing your items!

Next, I chose a pretty (but still industrial themed) sheer wired silver stripe ribbon to wrap around my wrapped box for my bow base.

Make your Man-Bow to adorn your gift

Now you can start creating your “found object” bow.  You will be using a simple layering and twist and layering bow, depending on your items.  Before you start, cut a piece of Bowdabra Bow Wire about 30″ inches for this project – you have some thick items!  Fold the wire in half, lay it across the Bowdabra and tuck the ends underneath the unit to keep them out of the way while you work.  Some of my bow supplies (like the sand paper strip) were stiff and one sided – I started with those pieces, pinching and pressing them into the Bowabra.

And with items like drywall tape, I treated that like a ribbon that has a “right” and “wrong” side – doing a twist technique.  The Drywall mesh was wide, so I opted to roll it and press it into the Bowdabra and loved the outcome! The final touch was six pack rings tucked into the Bowdabra.

Next, use that Bowdabra Wand to press all of your elements down firmly

Finally, pull your folded Bowdabra Wire out from under the unit, put the cut ends through the folded loop end, pull tight and knot.  Trim. Fluff bow and hot glue on to your gift.
