In this week’s video DIY, Bowdabra creator, Sandy Sandler shows you how easy it is to create a beautiful autumn centerpiece in minutes. You love displaying this autumn centerpiece throughout the fall season. Wouldn’t it be a lovely addition to your Thanksgiving table? Also, it’s terrific for fall weddings, birthdays and events
“Now we’re going to make this beautiful autumn centerpiece that’s perfect for a wedding or any black-tie event.”
First, I’m going to start with 36 inches of my Bowdabra Bow Wire. I’m going to fold it in half and lay it into the Bowdabra. I’ll tuck the ends underneath to stay out of the way while I work.
Now, I’m going to take a 20-inch wide gold mesh, and it’s 100 inches long. I’m just going to start by folding it back and forth and make a big loop here. Then, just scrunch it down into my Bowdabra.
Then, I’m going to fold it back and bring it back over here. Now I don’t have to twist, but because the mesh wants to push up, I’m going to twist it and scrunch it down. And I’m going to add one more loop and just scrunch everything into my Bowdabra.
Take my wand, give everything a little push, and now bring my wand aside. Next, I’m going to take this beautiful pick which is sort of a crystal with stars, it’s got starfish and beads, it’s from Katherine’s Collection. They just have absolutely gorgeous picks.
And then, I’m going to take these two more, they’re a gold and silver leaf, and these are also from Katherine’s Collection. I’m going to lay these down into the Bowdabra. Now, I’m going to take these beautiful peonies, and what I love about this is it’s a totally sustainable centerpiece. I’m just going to lay these in here. So, I’m going to put this one going that way. And, I’m going to put this one more going down.
This is so simple to make. I’m going to take my wand and just give everything a good little scrunch into the Bowdabra. Then, I have another piece of this gorgeous Katherine’s ribbon that’s four inches wide and 84 inches long. And you can see, it’s finished on both sides. So, I’m going to twist it and lay it down into my Bowdabra, bring it back over here, twist it, and lay it into the Bowdabra, and bring it back, I’m going to twist, put it in, and again, I’m going to bring it back over here and twist.
It’s just perfect for a beautiful wedding centerpiece or for a black-tie event. I’m going to bring this in here, twist and scrunch it down, and then I’m going to come back over here, and I don’t want my tail, so I’m putting the end here. I’m going to make a little loop, scrunch that down, come back in the center and scrunch everything into my Bowdabra.
Now I’ve got my Bowdabra pretty full here, so I am holding the bows in there. I’m going to still keep my fingers on this because it’s very, very full. The reason that I cut my wire a little bit longer than I usually do is that I wanted to make sure that it would be enough for this huge centerpiece.
Finally, I’m going to pull this through my slipknot, which is why I fold the wire in half when I put it into the Bowdabra. I’m just going to hold my bow and pull it really tight while it’s still in the Bowdabra. I’m going to separate the ends and bring it back here, separate them and bring them around to the back. And just go right here, and I’m going to tie this really tight, and tie another knot and bring it back around.
To finish, I’m just going to shape my bow and adjust my pick. This is what I love about these picks is that you can bend them and shape them. I’ll bring my flowers up here. And you have an absolutely gorgeous piece.
