Hey everyone! I’m Simply Shalese here to make something awesome with you guys! Today we will be making a Fall decorative bow that’s perfect for a Thanksgiving Wreath. Let’s get started!

Materials

Bowdabra Bow Maker

Bow Wire

Burlap Ribbon

Fall Ribbon

Scissors

Hot Glue Gun

Placing the Bow Wire

The first thing I do is fold my bow wire in half and place it in the center of the bowdabra. I usually use about 14 inches or so. Make sure you have enough to tie the bow at the end. If this bow is going to be placed on a wreath, then I suggest using more bow wire so that it can be tied to your wreath.

Starting Your Loops

To begin, place the thinner orange ribbon in the center of the burlap ribbon. With the burlap ribbon on top, scrunch both pieces of ribbon into the bowdabra. This step is done so that the orange ribbon will be visible in each loop. You then decide on how large you your loop. Next, you scrunch the ribbon and twist it before placing it down in the bowdabra. This step is done with each loop so that the orange ribbon will be completely visible. Then you repeat this step for each loop. The number of loops is completely up to you. I decided to go with six loops.

Don’t forget to use your wand frequently to help scrunch everything together.

Adding Your Tails

Once you done with your loops, take what’s left of your ribbon and make one large loop and scrunch the end in the bowdabra. If you know exactly how much ribbon you want to you, then you can add the tails first. Since I wasn’t sure of the amount of ribbon, I saved the tails for the end. Once you’ve scrunched the end of the ribbon, cut the loop right in the center. This will create four separate tails. I decided to add another piece of orange ribbon to make two more tails. I now have a total of six tails. You can add as many or as few tails as you’d like.

Tying the Bow Wire

Give your bow one last scrunch and while the wand is in place you can adjust the bow as much as you’d like. Then remove the wand and bring the bow wire together. Bring the two open ends inside the looped end. While one hand is holding the bow in place, use the other hand to pull the bow wire taut. Then carefully remove the decorative bow. Tie the bow wire in several knots and cut away any excess. You do have the option of keeping the excess bow wire in place, especially if you’re going to tie the bow to a wreath or candle.

Adding the Center

Cut a small piece of ribbon around 5 or 6 inches and fold it horizontally. Then place it in the center of your bow and hot glue it in place all the way around the bow. You can also just tie the ribbon in a knot at the back of the bow if you prefer.

Fluffing Your Loops

This next step is optional but I think it makes the bow look even larger and more gorgeous. I like to separate the orange and burlap ribbon for each loop. The loops look great either way so it’s completely up to you.

Adding the Final Touches

Last thing I do is ribbon cut the tails. To ribbon cut the tail, fold the end of the ribbon in half horizontally. Make sure the open ends are at the bottom and the loop is at the top. You will then take your scissors and cut the ribbon at a diagonal. Repeat this step for each tail. You can also add some type of embellishments to the center of your bow like a pumpkin, leaves, acorns, etc. Add whatever you like, just be creative and make it your own fall decorative bow.
