How to Gift Wrap a Paper Mache box

Hi!  I’m Sandy Sandler, the creator of the Bowdabra, and today I’m going to show you how to turn this cute little Paper Mache box into a gorgeous gift box idea.  So, let’s get started.

Materials:

First, measure the ribbon so that it covers the whole gift box.  Now, turn the box upside down and place it on the wrong side of the ribbon.  Then, bring the two ends of the ribbon together and fold and twist so that the right side of the ribbon goes around the box.

Then, bring the ribbon back over to the other side and do the same thing you did before, fold and twist so that the right side of the ribbon tails are showing.  And I’ve already dovetailed the ends.  Set it aside.

Make the Bow

Next, take the Mini Bowdabra.  Cut a piece of bow wire, fold it in half and insert it into the Mini Bowdabra.  Tuck the ends underneath so they stay out of my way.

Add a piece of rustic ribbon which has been dovetailed.  (To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut from the corner to the fold.) Add the second piece of ribbon.

Insert the sheer satin ribbon. Begin to make loops, folding, and twisting making sure the right side of the ribbon is facing up.

Next, add the printed ribbon.  To make sure that the writing is facing in the proper direction we make a sort of boutique bow.  Begin by taking one side of the ribbon and loop over inserting into the Mini Bowdabra.  Then, bring the other side of the ribbon over and insert it into the Mini Bowdabra, making an X. Now, push in the bottom ribbon first and then the top ribbon.  Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.

Take the two loose ends of the bow wire and insert it through the loop.  Pull tight while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.  Pull it out, separate the ends and turn to the back and tie a knot.

Attach the bow to the gift box using the excess bow wire. Since many people like to save the bows, I attach it by tying a bow instead of a knot and clip any excess wire.  Shape and adjust your bow.

You have a super simple decorated gift box with a Bowdabra bow.
