How to Make Different Kinds of Traditional and Funky Bows with the Bowdabra

Watch Nick from Nick’s Seasonal Décor this week on Bowdabra Live, where he shows us the complete process of creating several kinds of bows. Today you will learn to make bows and wreaths to decorate your gifts and homes as well as be able to gift some to your loved ones. What could be a better way to get ready for the year end celebrations!

A Double Ribbon Bow (Starts at 0: 40)

Materials required:

• 100 yard Bowdabra bow wire spool

Large Bowdabra

• Sheer vibrant red ribbon roll and another in green

1. Nick folds the bow wire into half, and tucks it into and underneath the Bowdabra.

2. He cuts one long length of ribbon from each roll to create two long tails and adds them to the Bowdabra.

3. He takes both the ribbons, holds them together and begins creating, with the twist-and-add method, four loops in the Bowdabra on each side.

4. He compresses the ribbons, then goes on to pull the bow wire from one end of the Bowdabra to the other and ties the bow securely.

5. He takes the bow out and separates and fluffs all the loops to make the bow pretty and the two colors stand out.

A Funky Red Gift Bow (Starts at 7: 05)

Materials required:

100 yard Bowdabra bow wire

Large Bowdabra

• 5/8” wired red ribbon roll and one in red with thin green piping

1. Nick folds the bow wire into half, and tucks it into and underneath the Bowdabra.

2. He fashions a single looped bow with one of the ribbon and adds it to the Bowdabra.

3. He repeats the process with the other roll and adds it to the opposite side of the Bowdabra.

4. He continues to alternate between both the ribbons till he has a bunch of loops to create a full bow.

5.Nicks then pulls the bow wire through a slip knot to secure the bow, ties it up several times to secure it and fluffs all the loops up to give it a professional touch.

A Traditional Golden Bow (Starts at 11: 45)

Materials required:

100 yard Bowdabra bow wire

Large Bowdabra

• 1½” sheer gold colored ribbon roll

1. Nick folds the bow wire into half, and tucks it into and underneath the Bowdabra.

2. He creates a long tail with the gold ribbon and adds it to the Bowdabra.

3. After that, with the twist-and-add method, he creates as many loops as he can fit in the Bowdabra.

4. He then compresses the ribbons down, goes on to pull the bow wire from one end of the Bowdabra to the other and ties the bow up securely.

5. He takes the bow out and finishes off by fluffing all the loops to make the bow very pretty and professional looking.

A Funky Polka Dotted Wreath (Starts at 15: 30)

Materials required:

100 yard Bowdabra bow wire

Large Bowdabra

• Glue skillet

• Christmas decorative element such as pip berries

• A wreath frame

• 11/2” rust orange polka dotted ribbon roll

1. Nick begins by folding the bow wire into half, and tucks it into and underneath the Bowdabra.

2. For this bow, he adds a mid-sized tail from the ribbon to the Bowdabra.

3. He then fashions a single looped bow with the roll and adds it to the Bowdabra.

4. He repeats the process and adds it to the opposite side of the Bowdabra, and similarly goes on to create several loops on both sides of the Bowdabra

5. He pulls the bow wire through a slip knot to secure the bow and ties it up.

6. Nick then cuts his favourite dovetail pattern on the tail ends before fluffing up all the loops for good measure to provide it a smooth finishing touch.

7. Finally Nick attaches the bow to the wreath frame securely and with the glue from the skillet works the pip berries into the wreath.

A Traditional Fall 3-2-1 Bow (Starts at 20: 48)

Materials required:

100 yard Bowdabra bow wire

Large Bowdabra

• One-sided coppery ribbon with multi-colored stripes

A Traditional Fall 3-2-1 Bow

1. Nick begins making the bow by folding the bow wire into half, and tucks it into and underneath the Bowdabra.

2. For this bow, he first fashions a long tail and adds to the Bowdabra.

3. He then creates three loops on each side of the Bowdabra before making two smaller loops on each side and a cute button loop in the center.

4. He pulls the bow wire through a slip knot to secure the bow and ties it up.

5. He goes on curl on the tail ends between his fingers before fluffing all the loops for good measure for a smooth finishing touch.

A Traditional Candy Cane Colored Polka Dotted Bow (Starts at 25: 27)

Materials required:

100 yard Bowdabra bow wire

Large Bowdabra

• One-sided candy cane colored polka dotted ribbon roll

1. Nick begins making the bow by folding the bow wire into half, and tucks it into and underneath the Bowdabra.

2. For this bow, he first fashions a long tail and adds to the Bowdabra.

3. He adds as many loops as he can on each side of the Bowdabra to make a full bow.

4. He then pulls the bow wire through a slip knot to secure the bow and ties it up.

5. He goes on curl on the tail ends between his fingers before fluffing all the loops for good measure for a smooth finishing touch.
