How to Make a Wide Ribbon Wreath Bow

Extra wide ribbons make spectacular wreath bows. At first, the wide ribbons—four, five, six or more inches—can seem daunting. But the Bowdabra makes working with these ribbons a snap. The extra wide ribbons add a special focal point to any wreath. Wide Ribbon Wreath Bow

Here’s the supplies you’ll need:

Making the wide ribbon wreath bow:

  1. Cut the ribbon to length, and pass the ends through a flame to seal the ends.
  2. Dovetail the ends of the 30″ length of ribbon.
  3. Fold bow wire in half and put it in the Bowdabra. Tuck the ends of the wire under the Bowdabra to keep them out of the way.
  4. Center the 30″ length of ribbon in the Bowdabra.
  5. Next, make a bow with two loops on each side of the Bowdabra.
  6. For the final loop, bring the end of the ribbon up and over the Bowdabra pillar. Insert the ribbon end into the Bowdabra.
  7. Then, put the center of the loop you just created into the Bowdabra.
  8. Compress the ribbon with the Bowdabra wand.
  9. With the bow still in the Bowdabra, pass the wire ends through the loop and tighten. Tie a knot on the reverse side. Leave the wire ends long to attach the bow to the wreath.
  10.  Adjust individual loops and fluff the bow. Attach the wide ribbon bow to the wire wreath.
