Bowdabra creator, Sandy Sandler is here to show you how to use leftover scraps of ribbon to make a super easy centerpiece. Watch this step-by-step video and follow along with Sandy! In literally minutes you will have created a gorgeous scrap ribbon centerpiece or swag with Bowdabra!
Super easy scrap ribbon centerpiece
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the end under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, dovetail the ribbon scraps so they are ready to use. (To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle towards the fold.)
Now, begin laying the pieces of ribbon into the Bowdabra shaping as you go.
Then, add the battery-operated mini lights and arrange them all around the ribbon. The lights add an extra elegant touch to your centerpiece.
Next, lay in smaller, shorter, scraps of ribbon into the Bowdabra. Mix and match the ribbon scraps so that you have a beautiful selection of colors and textures. Continue adding shorter pieces of ribbon as you go.
Finishing your centerpiece
Finally, take the last piece of ribbon and place the right side down, come back around, and place the right side down. Then, scrunch the ribbon down in the center.
To finish, add a leftover pick of your choice. Now, scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Shape the bow centerpiece, lights, and ribbons. Now your bow is ready to use as an elegant centerpiece or you can even add it to a wreath.
