How to Make an Adorable Rope and Bow Wreath for Fall

Looking for a different design to make in wreaths this fall? Why not try this unique rope and bow wreath! It’s such an easy way to create a stunning wreath – especially one with a bow that blends in nicely with just about any type of decor!  This Rope and bow wreath makes a beautiful decoration for your wall and doors year-round, too. Simply by switching out your embellishments! And you won’t believe how easy and simple it is to make!

Supplies:

Let’s begin by taking a 15″ round cardboard from the bottom of a frozen pizza (I save them)  or, if you don’t have one, cut a circle out of the flat side of a large cardboard box.

Then using a pan top approximately three inches smaller (12″) than the round cardboard, draw a circle in the center . . .

and cut out using a craft knife.

This will be the backing for the wreath. It is 15″ in diameter and 3″ wide.

Next, begin gluing down the rope – adding hot glue along the edge and pressing the rope firmly in place.

Continue gluing down the rope along the edge of the cardboard until reaching the area where you began. Apply additional glue to the side of the end of the beginning rope and also to the cardboard, squeezing the two together for an easy transition and . . .

continue gluing on the rope around the cardboard.

When reaching the end (in the same area where you began, cut the rope at an angle, adding glue to the end and then blending and smoothing it into the rope.

To make the hanging loop, cut a yard of rope, folding it in half. Place the loop end under the wreath . . .

and pull the two rope ends through the loop securing them around the wreath

Make a double loop with the rope, gluing the ends securely to the cardboard and sides of the rope with hot glue. Add permanent outdoor glue where there is hot glue if using outside

How cool does this look!

To make the bow:

Fold a 30″ piece of Bowdabra wire in half and lay in the Bowdabra, tucking ends under. To make the bow tail, cut a 24″ strip of 2.5″ ribbon, folding together to find the center and placing it down into the Bowdabra. Then pinch the end of the 2.5″ wide ribbon and insert down into the Bowdabra. Then take the ribbon and fold it over a four-inch loop and press into the Bowdabra.

Dovetail the ends by folding the end ribbon together and cut at the fold on and down to the opposite ribbon edge.

Fold the ribbon on the opposite side, making a four-inch loop, inserting down.

Make three more 4″ loops for a total of four loops on each side. Scrunch the loops down using the Bowdabra wand.

While the bow is still in the Bowdabra, tie off by threading the two loose ends of the bow wire through the loop at the other end. Pull the bow wire tightly before removing the bow from the Bowdabra, then take the bow wire ends around to the back of the bow, tying in a knot to secure tightly. Cut off excess bow wire.

Attach the bow to rope wreath using hot glue. Apply permanent outdoor glue if using outside. Then fluff and straighten the bow loops.

Add embellishments like fall leaves, berries, and small velvet pumpkins to enhance the pretty rope and bow wreath!
