Do you want to learn how to create unique bows to use for gifts, home décor, and more? In this quick DIY video Bowdabra creator, Sandy Sandler shows you how to make this beautiful Bowdabra butterfly bow in minutes! So, let’s get started.
1 ½’ wide Gingham check ribbon
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Now, cut one piece of the gingham check ribbon, and one piece of burlap ribbon. Dovetail the ends. To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle away from the fold.
Next, lay the two pieces of precut ribbon together and lay them into the Bowdabra. These will be the tails.
To create a bow, take an additional two pieces of ribbon together, place the right side down, come back around and, again, push the right side down. Now, push the ribbon down in the center. Repeat this with two more pieces of ribbon a little shorter for another bow. You do not need to dovetail these ribbon pieces.
Finally, take the two shortest pieces of gingham and burlap ribbon together and repeat the steps above to make the smallest bow. You will have three graduated-sized bows.
Now, add the mini floral rose.
Scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Fluff and arrange the bow! That’s all there is to it! So easy, and so very pretty!
