How to Make the Perfect Dryer Sheet Scrunchy Bow with Bowdabra

Let’s put used dryer sheets to good use and help minimize landfill. Used dryer sheets are not recyclable or compostable, so they end up as trash and go to landfills. But, you can use them to make a fabulous scrunchy bow.

Gather these supplies for your dryer sheet scrunchy bow:

• Used dryer sheets
• 18″ length Bowdabra bow wire
• Mini Bowdabra Bow Making and Design Tool
• Scissors
• Food coloring

Let’s transform these used dryer sheets into a bow:

1. In a small bowl combine warm water and a few drops of food coloring. Soak the used dryer sheets in the colored water for several minutes.
2. Lay the colored dryer sheets on old towels or rags to dry. Try to avoid using paper towels—we want to reduce waste with this project as much as possible.
3. Cut the dryer sheets to an appropriate size for the size scrunchy bow you want to make. This bow is just over 4″ in diameter and I cut three red dryer sheets in half and one yellow dryer sheet in quarters, but only used two of the quarters.
4. Fold bow wire in half and put it in the Mini Bowdabra. Tuck the ends of the wire under the Mini Bowdabra to keep them out of the way.
5. Scrunch the half dryer sheets into the Mini Bowdabra.
6. Next, add the yellow quarters.
7. Compress the dryer sheets with the Mini Bowdabra wand.
8. With the dryer sheets still in the Mini Bowdabra, pass the wire ends through the loop, tighten, and tie a knot.
9. Separate the dryer sheet layers, and fluff the bow.
10. Bring the wire ends to the reverse side and tie a knot. Trim the wire ends.
11. There!! You did it. You made a gorgeous bow from used dryer sheets, and helped to reduce landfill waste.
