Supplies:
  • 1 Silk Rose (Color of choice)
  • 5 Crisp Bills (Denomination of your choice)
  • Hot Glue or Glue Dots
  • Bowdarba Bow Wire or 22 -24 gage (thin) floral wire
  • Large Bowdabra
  • Scissors
  • Skewer Stick – Optional for additional curling assistance
  • Floral Tape – Optional
  • Pearl head or bling head corsage pin – optional
  • 1.5″ wide Ribbon (color of choice)… 3×14″ strips and 2×8″ strips of ribbon for a ‘Partial Funky Bowdabra Bow’ – Optional
  • Gift Tag – Optional

Instructions:

First, curl the ends of the paper bills and disassemble a silk rose. Next, cut rose petals in half to fit in the Bowdabra neater.

Now, load the Large Bowdabra with Bowdabra Bow Wire or a floral wire. Add a layer of rose petals. Then, start folding the money into a petal shape, using the Bowdabra Hair bow mountain peak technique. Add  single bill into the Bowdabra and then another layer of rose petals. Next, repeat the bill folding process and add 2 bills to this layer. Make sure they are facing opposite directions.(Be sure to keep all the bills face up and scrunch everything down real good with the Bowdabra wand.) Repeat this same process with the last  bills.

Finishing the money rose

Finally, add in the smaller and single rose petals that are leftover. Using the Bowdabra Bow wire or floral wire, tie the rose up real tight and remove it from the Bowdabra. Fluff and shape your rose. You can leave the center as is or make the center with the plastic center now covered in  rose petals. Add the center back in with hot glue and a decorative corsage pin, which is also optional.

Other money rose uses

If you use the money rose for gift wrapping purposes, you are done. If you need the stem, it’s time to reassemble the rose. Add the plastic calyx back on and replace the stem. A dab of hot glue is helpful in this step to helping with everything slipping out of place. You can stop here if you need the roses as as single stem for presentation, or you can curl the stem stem make it free standing without a vase. You can also add a bow to the rose at this step, whether you curl the stem of keep it straight. Use the ribbon to match the theme of the occasion or the recipients favorite color!

Pro tip… Take a piece of the excess Bowdabra Bow Wire from making the bow and use it to tie on a gift/name tag!
