How to Make an Outdoor Hide-a-Key for a Unique Father’s Day Gift

This outdoor hide-a-key makes a unique Father’s Day gift. Finding camouflage supplies is half the fun of creating this great gift. And you’re helping the environment by recycling a pill bottle.Outdoor Hide-a-Key

Here’s the supplies that you’ll need:

  • Empty pill bottle
  • Brown, black, and green permanent markers
  • Stone, pinecone, large twig, or fairy garden figurine
  • E6000 adhesive

Let’s make the hide-a-key:

  1. Take a nature walk to gather what you’ll put on the top of the hide-a-key. You’ll want something that will blend with where you’ll bury it.
  2. To help with camouflaging the hide-a-key color the bottle cap with dark markers—black, brown, or dark green—that will blend in where it will be buried.
  3. Put a healthy dollop of E6000 adhesive on the bottle cap and glue your camouflage piece in place. Let the adhesive dry thoroughly.
  4. Dad will need to add a key to the bottle, and bury it after you give it to him. The hide-a-key can be buried in landscaping shrubbery or hidden in an outdoor flower pot.
