Craft Tip: How to Make the Perfect Marker Storage Unit for Art Pens

Making this marker storage unit for your art pens and markers will extend their life by storing them horizontally. Storing markers and pens horizontally helps to evenly distributed ink in the cartridge. It helps prevent dried-out markers by keeping the nib/tip of the pen moist. Additionally, for alcohol markers—such as Sharpie, Copic, and Prismacolor pens—horizontally storage helps prevent the ink from evaporating. Art Pen and Marker Storage Unit

You only need a few supplies to make this  art pen and marker storage unit:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Tissue box, shoe box, or any other suitable box
  • Double-sided tape

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Cut the top from the tissue box.
  2. Dry fit the toilet paper rolls into the box to achieve the best fit.
  3. Use double-sided tape to join the rolls, following the pattern you established during the dry fit.
  4. Now, load your storage unit with your markers and art pens!!
