How to Make an Amazing Ribbon Angel Tree Top Bow with Bowdabra

Ribbon Angel Tree

I love Christmas in July! It’s a marvelous time to get a head start on your holiday crafting. And the best part is you can actually enjoy making things without having that rushed feeling. Ribbon angels are quite popular to make for Christmas and I’d love to share an easy way of making a chic and stylish Ribbon Angel tree top bow using your Bowdabra!

You will need:

Bowdabra and wand
Bowdabra bow wire
2.5″ wired ribbon (fifty yd roll)
Plastic round ornament
Chenille Stems
Hot glue

How to Make the Ribbon Angel tree top bow:

Fold a 36″ piece of Bowdabra bow wire in half and lay in the Bowdabra, tucking ends under. Then crease the end of the ribbon on the roll, and place it in the Bowdabra. Since the design is on one side of this ribbon, fold a 10″ loop, creasing, and twisting the center of the ribbon down into the Bowdabra.

Take the ribbon on the opposite side and fold another 10″ loop, creasing and twisting the center down into the Bowdabra.

Continue making five more loops on either side. Folding and creasing the center and twisting the ribbon down into the Bowdabra. These loops will become the angel’s skirt.

Arrange the loops down around the Bowdabra

To make the Angel wings:

Continue making loops as before, first, 6″ loops, twisting and creasing the center down into the Bowdabra.

Do the same on the opposite side. Then make two more loops on either side, 5″ and 4″ long. Scrunch down the bow loops using the Bowdabra Wand.

Make a button loop to cover the bow wire, cutting off the excess ribbon.

While the bow is still in the Bowdabra, thread the loose ends of the bow wire through the loop and pull tight while gently pulling the bow out. Then, take each wire separately around to the back of the bow angle and tie all the loops tightly in a triple knot to secure. Leave the bow wire ends intact to wrap a double slipknot for hanging the angel.

Next, remove the hanging hook from the plastic ornament. Then take three chenille steams and intertwine them around each other to make a thicker piece. Wrap the chenille stem around the ornament to size the halo and remove, twisting the chenille stem closed forming a halo. Glue the chenille stem along the center of the ornament with the halo over the ornament (head). Glue the base of the ornament to the center where the bow wire is tied around the ribbon.
