Create DIY Classic Style Wreath & Bows – Bowdabra Tutorial

Making beautiful bows by hand doesn’t have to be hard. All you need is a wired ribbon, bow wire or a pipe cleaner, and scissors. In just a few minutes you can create a gorgeous bow to add to wreaths, door hangers, or home decor. You can use any style of Bowdabra ribbons you like; it does not have to be a wired ribbon either. In this tutorial, we’re showing you some amazing DIY bow and wreath-making techniques using bow-making tools. DIY Classic Style Funky Bow (Starts at 1:32)

Materials Required:

Process:

  1. Nick folds the bow wire in half and tucks it underneath the Bowdabra.
  2. He cuts off a bunch of tails (6) about 24” long from the ribbon roll.
  3. Next, he takes those pieces of ribbons, creates loops, and places them one by one in opposite direction.
  4. He pulls the bow wire from one end to the other and ties the bow.
  5. He finishes off by fluffing the loops and cutting the dovetail pattern on the tail ends.

 

Double Ribbon Bow (Starts at 7:10)

Process:

  1. Nick folds the bow wire in half and tucks it underneath the Bowdabra.
  2. After cutting off the two tails from the 1 ½” orange ribbon roll, he places them right into the Bowdabra.
  3. He takes the 1 ½” ribbon, flips it inside out, places it on the Bowdabra, and creates 6 loops (3 ½”).
  4. Using the 7/8” orange ribbon, he creates 4 comparatively smaller loops and creates 1 button loop.
  5. He secures the bow with several wire knots in the back and finishes off by fluffing the loops and curling up the tail ends.

 

Double Ribbon Funky Bow (Starts at 12:30)

Process:

  1. Nick folds the bow wire in half and tucks it underneath the Bowdabra.
  2. He places the gingham ribbon inside the Bowdabra, creates 1 loop, and snips it off.
  3. Next, he takes the blue ribbon flips it inside out, places it on the Bowdabra, creates 1 loop, and snips it off.
  4. In the same fashion, he creates 4 more loops using both of the ribbons simultaneously.
  5. He pulls the bow wire from one end to the other and ties the bow.
  6. He finishes off by fluffing the loops and cutting the dovetail pattern on the tail ends.

 

DIY Classic Style Bow Wreath (Starts at 17:40)

Materials required:

Process:

  1. Nick folds the bow wire in half and tucks it underneath the Bowdabra.
  2. After cutting off the tails from the orange ribbon roll, he places them right into the Bowdabra.
  3. He takes the ribbon, flips it inside out, places it on the Bowdabra, and creates 4 loops (4”).
  4. Using the same ribbon, he creates 2 comparatively smaller loops and 1 button loop.
  5. He secures the bow with several wire knots in the back and finishes off by fluffing the loops and curling up the tail ends.
  6. In the end, he sticks the bow securely to the wreath and adds some decorative leaves and burnt/rustic orange flower sprays/picks with hot glue.

 

DIY Tails Only Bow (Starts at 24:33)

Materials required:

Process:

  1. Nick folds the bow wire in half and tucks it underneath the Bowdabra.
  2. He cuts off a bunch of tails (6 tails) from the yellow ribbon roll and places them inside the Bowdabra.
  3. Next, he cuts off a bunch of comparatively smaller tails (5 tails) from the blue ribbon roll and keeps the smaller pieces on the top to create a flower design.
  4. He pulls the bow wire from one end to the other and ties the bow.
  5. He finishes off by fluffing the loops and cutting the dovetail pattern on the tail ends.
