How to Make the Perfect Festive Christmas Table Centerpiece

I love festive centerpieces!! The stunning ribbons and spectacular Bowdabra focal bow paired with live (or artificial) pines make this Christmas table centerpiece unforgettable.

Christmas Table Centerpiece

Here are the supplies that you’ll need to make the table centerpiece:

  • Two lengths of 4″ wired velvet ribbon—one length the width of the table and the other the length of the table
  • One 60″ length 5″ wired gold glitter ribbon
  • One 28″ length 5″ wired gold glitter ribbon
  • 18″ length Bowdabra bow wire
  • Bowdabra Bow Making & Design Tool
  • Live or artificial pine boughs and holly sprigs
  • Two votive candle holders with battery operated tea lights

Let’s make the focal bow for the centerpiece:

  1. Measure the length and width of the table, and cut the velvet ribbon to appropriate lengths. Dovetail the ends of the velvet ribbons and the 28″ length of gold glitter ribbon by folding the ribbon in half and cutting the fold on an angle. Quickly pass the ribbon ends through a flame to seal. Set aside for now.
  2. Fold the bow wire in half and put in the Bowdabra. Tuck the ends of the wire under the Bowdabra to keep them out of the way.
  3. Center the 28″ length of gold glitter ribbon in the Bowdabra.
  4. Make a two loop fold over bow with ~48″ of the 60″ length of gold glitter ribbon.
  5. For the final center loop, bring the remaining end of the ribbon over the top of the Bowdabra and put it in the Bowdabra.
  6. Next, press the center of the last loop into the Bowdabra.
  7. Compress the ribbons with the Bowdabra wand.
  8. With the ribbons still in the Bowdabra, pass the wire ends through the loop and tighten, and tie a secure knot. Leave the wire end long for now.

Now, let’s build the Christmas table centerpiece:

  1. Cross the velvet ribbons in the center of the table—one ribbon running the length of the table and the other laid on top of it running the width of the table.
  2. Arrange the pine boughs and holly spring on top of the velvet ribbons. Work from the center of the table toward each end.
  3. Position the gold glitter bow on top of the greens. If necessary, use the wire end to secure the bow to a couple of the pine boughs. Otherwise, trim the wire ends or tuck them under the bow out of sight.
  4. Nestle votive candles among the greens.
