Join me as I show you how to embellish a candle holder with bows! Did you know you can create a festive display on any type of candle holder just by adding bows? You’ve heard the expression, “put a bow on it!” Well the time after the holidays and during the winter months, there’s always a bit of a letdown in decorating. What better way to spruce up the atmosphere than by placing pretty bows here and there throughout your home? Let me show you starting with this lovely candle holder:
How to embellish a candle holder with Bowdabra
Materials needed:
- 2.5″ wire ribbon
- Bowdabra and Wand
- Bowdabra Bow Wire
- Scissors
- Candleholder
- LED lights/candles (optional)
Start by using some of your leftover ribbon from the holidays, but any ribbon will do that matches your decor.
To make the bows:
First, cut an 18″ piece of Bowdabra Bow Wire, fold it in half, and place it in the Bowdabra, tucking the ends under. Then take a 10″ strip of ribbon, pinch the ribbon strip in the middle and insert it down into Bowdabra for the bow tails. Leave the 2.5″ wide ribbon on the roll and crease the end of the ribbon, placing the ribbon down into the Bowdabra. Then, make a loop starting at the side of the Bowdabra, pinching the ribbon in the middle down into the Bowdabra.
Then fold over the ribbon on the opposite side making a loop at the edge of the Bowdabra and pinching the ribbon down into the Bowdabra.
Continue making two more loops on each side for a total of six, 2 1/4″ loops.
Use the Bowdabra wand to crunch down the ribbon loops. Cut off the excess ribbon while the bow is still in the Bowdabra, and thread the two loose ends of the bow wire through the loop, pulling tightly while gently pulling the bow out.
Then take the bow wire and tie the bow around the base of the candleholder. Measure where the ribbon tails should drape along the bottom and then dovetail the ends by folding the ribbon ends together and cutting at an angle from the fold down to the opposite end.
Make two more bows the same as the first bow . . .
