Are you looking for a hard to buy for dad? You can create this useful and personalized Father’s Day gift quickly and inexpensively. The supplies are simple, gather some rocks on an outing and then create your desk organizer. Personalize with some paint pens and you are all set for a gift you father will treasure forever!
3 pieces of slate that fit together
2 heart shaped river rocks
1 corn husk flower or sola flower
18” of a handful of raffia
1.5 yards of jute/twine
Clear coat spray
Paint Pen or Cricut letters-Optional
First, hike or forage for some river rocks and slate. If you don not have an area to do this you can buy slate and rocks at the craft store or online. Next, use the clear coat spray on all the rock pieces.
Next, place some twine in the Bowdabra and then lay in some raffia pieces. Use the raffia as you would ribbon and make two loops on each side. Now use the twine to make some loops as well. Tie the bow with the twine you loaded at the beginning, remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back and tie a knot. Set aside.
Now, using both E600 and hot glue assemble the rocks together. Place the larger slate piece as a base, then glue a piece to the side. Finally glue a front piece with an area between to hold cards and letters.
Add a cornhusk flower with some glue and then place the raffia bow in front. Add any extra rocks or natural items at this time to the decor at the front of the organizer.
Let the organizer dry for at least 24 hours. Then use clear silicone in all the creases and areas of attachment. Let dry. Use a paint pen to write your dad’s name or sentiment on the personalized Father’s Day gift and let dry.
