unique gift wrap

Materials:

• Wrapping Paper
• Scissors
• Tape (Scotch tape and double sided)
• Shirt Box
• Buttons
Mini Bowdabra and Wand
Bowdabra Bow Wire

Ribbons used:

Chicago ribbon

Sheer ribbon

Sheer swirl ribbon

Rhinestone mesh

Ribbon sizes:
• Matching pre-dovetailed ribbon 2.5”, cut 8” long

• Matching pre-dovetailed ribbon 1.5”, cut 12” long

• Matching pre-dovetailed ribbon 1.5”, cut 8” long

• Bling Ribbon 1.5” wide,  and 1” long

Instructions:

First, wrap your box, as usual, with a striped wrapping paper.

Next, cut a three-inch strip of wrapping paper long enough to fit around the box. Fold and crease side edges in for a width of 1 1/2″ and wrap around the box. Use double sided tape or glue and secure the ends down onto the back of the package.

Cut another piece of wrapping paper about 24″x5″, folding sides in, and then folding again in middle.

Then, cross the folded strip like a shirt collar. Cut another piece of wrapping paper about 24″x5″, folding sides in, & then folding again in middle.

Cross the folded strip like a shirt collar. Cutting the ends off, even with the width of the fold of the collar and tape it down with the double sided tape or glue.

Make the pocket

To make a pocket, cut and fold a 5.5” long by 5” wide piece of wrapping paper, going the opposite direction of the stripes. Fold in all sides, and then triangle the 2 bottom corners. Attach the pocket to the package, using the double sided tape, onto the left side.

To make bow tie:

Cut an 18″ piece of Bowdabra bow wire, folding in half and placing down into the Mini Bowdabra, tucking ends underneath. Take the 8” long piece of punch ribbon and pinch the sides in (mountain down), and push it down into the Mini Bowdabra.

Next, take the 1.5” wide, 12” long ribbon and find the center. Holding it with the pretty side down, pinch a mountain down crease in it and then push it down into the Mini Bowdabra. Take one end and loop it over into the Bowdabra, leaving a small overhang. Then repeat this for the opposite side. Now take the 8” long piece of 1.5” ribbon and add it into the Bowdabra, scrunchy bow style. Lastly, add the 1” long, 1.5” wide piece of bling ribbon.

While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, make a slipknot with bow wire ends, pulling tightly, gently pulling the bow out and tying bow wire in a knot around the back. Once tied, cut off excess wire and give the bow a little bit of a fluffing and shaping.

To attach the bow tie:

Tape or glue the finished bowtie onto the center collar and give it a touch up fluffing and shaping if needed.

Adding the buttons:

Now add the buttons down the center strip, using double sided tape or glue. Keep the holes all going the same direction.

Optional idea:

You can customize this adorable gift wrap presentation by adding a personalized note or name tag, a greeting for the occasion or even a gift card into the pocket!

Pro-Tip:

Most of the Dollar Tree wrapping paper has a grid printed on the backside, making it super easy to measure your cuts and folds… If you this kind of wrapping paper, this will help you keep the strips even for the folding for this project!

Finding the perfect way to wrap gifts for men is sometimes difficult.  This unique gift wrap idea will be a hit any time of the year!
