For the Bow:
  • Burlap on a roll and as ribbon (about 5.5″)
  • 1-inch material strips in solid red, striped red, and Christmas plaid (1″x5″)
  • Greenery
  • Mini spoon
  • Kraft tag stamped SWEET
  • Bowdabra bow maker
  • Bowdabra bow wire
Instructions:

First, paint your sign with truffle paint and let it dry.  Then, dry brush some red chalk paint all over the front of the sign. Next, sand the edges slightly. Brush some antique wax on the sign and wipe off the excess.

Next, prepare the gingerbread man cardboard shape by tearing away some of the paper from the hands, head, and legs to expose the corrugation. Then, paint the entire shape with caramel-colored acrylic paint. Go over the edges with some antique wax.

Now, using the white puff paint draw some eyes, mouth, and squiggly lines as necessary. Then cut some berries in half to create a flat surface and glue them to the gingerbread man for buttone.

Make the Bow

To make the bow load the Bowdabra bow maker with some cord, then lay in the square pieces of wide burlap ribbon. Next, lay in, one at a time the fabric and ribbon strips which are about 5 inches long. In between layering the strips, place in some greenery pieces and then finish all your ribbon strips.

Finishing

To finish, tie the strips together tightly with the string. Fluff out the bow. Prepare the tag by stamping it with “sweet” and wrinkling it to get an aged look. Attach the bow to the top of the sign. Glue on the gingerbread man.

Glue on the faux peppermint candies, and snowflakes. Finally, wrap the tag around a small wooden spoon and glue it to the center of the bow along with a peppermint candy.
