Recycled Patriotic Wreath

I’m back with another recycled craft–a Patriotic Wreath! Several years ago, I ran across a blogger who would repurpose fabric into all kinds of crafts. Her reasoning was pretty simple: fabric is fabric! It doesn’t matter if it was a dress before- what can it be now? That’s the premise behind today’s project.

A year ago, I was at a thrift store and purchased this lovely little dress for a quarter! It was a quarter for a reason. It didn’t have any buttons on it. I decided to bring it home and either sew buttons on it or cut the bottom off to make a skirt for my daughter. Life happened, and I never did either. Now she’s too big for the dress or a skirt. But the blue and white stripes are Fourth of July festive, so I decided to repurpose the material into a wreath!

If repurposing material from another source, cut the material into a long strip, about 1.5″-2″ wide.

Wrap the material around the wreath form and use the hot glue to secure it in place.

Create a bow with the Bowdabra.

Fold the bow wire in half and insert in  the Bowdabra.

Place the ribbon in the Bowdabra.

Continue doing this until the desired bow is created.

Insert the two loose ends of the bow wire through the loop and pull tight to secure the bow. Tie a knot in the back.

Hot glue the bow in place on the wreath.

To create a simple hanger for the wreath, cut a length of ribbon. Fold it in half, and tie a knot in the top.

Wrap the ribbon around the top of the wreath. Hot glue the ends together to form the hanger.
