Materials:

  • Wreath repurposed or new
  • Bowdabra bow maker
  • Bowdabra bow wire
  • Printable (this one was from Hammonsnest.com)
  • Antique wax
  • Cardboard circle the size of the wreath
  • ModPodge and a small paintbrush
  • Neutral-colored ribbon (burlap style)
  • Material strips in black/white stripes, red/tan stripes/, muslin (coffee stain optional)
  • Greenery – Christmas branches, rosemary, and white berries
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
Instructions:

First, remove the seasonal florals from the clearance wreath and lay them aside for another project.

Next, cut a circle from a piece of cardboard. Print out your image and cut it out to the size of the cardboard circle.  Use some Modpodge to attach the printable to the cardboard.  If desired cover the back of the cardboard with some contact paper. Cover the front of the printable with another coat of ModPodge.

When the ModPodge is dry, cover the image with some antique wax and wipe off the excess.

Make the Bow

Cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire, fold it in half, and lay it in the Bowdabra. Next, place the burlap ribbon in the Bowdabra and begin making loops back and forth. Now, lay in the various strips of fabric, find the center, and place in the Bowdabra, then fold the other ends over making a small bow. Continue till you have used all your strips.

Thread the loose wires through the loop for a slipknot and pull tight.  Remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back and, tie a knot.  Fluff and arrange your bow.

To finish attach a hanger to the cardboard image and then use hot glue to attach it to the wreath. Now, add some greenery to the wreath with hot glue and tie the bow to the top. Finish by adding some more greenery and berries all around.
